Becoming a BCLT Resident

One of the most common questions we get asked is how to get a home through BCLT. 

With only 12 homes developed by BCLT, at our Fishponds Road scheme, all of which are home the intentional community that have been on this journey with us over the years, a growing membership of over 650, and no plans to start another project in the near future, it's not going to be as straightforward as we'd all like! 

However, Bristol CLT has taken on the management of Community Led Homes West - the West of England Hub for Community-led housing. Through this operation the focus is to enable and empower communities to realise their own community-led housing aspirations. 

What if a home does become available at Fishponds Road?

There are occasions when our residents circumstances change and they move on. To qualify to apply for a BCLT home, the following criteria must be met: 

Shared Ownership
- Be a BCLT member
- Household income of less than £80,000 per annum
- Unable to afford to buy a home on the open market
- Meet financial affordability criteria
- Be registered with Help to Buy South

Affordable Rent
- Be a BLCT member
- Meet the housing need of the home
- Be registered, and have a live account, on Bristol City Council HomeChoice
- To register for HomeChoice, the following conditions must be met:                          
o Household income of less than £40,000 per annum           
o Household savings of less than £40,000
o Do not own a home in the UK or abroad

We always notify members, by email, in advance of advertising homes that become available with as much information as possible e.g. date that it will be advertised etc. If you're not already a member, you can complete a simple form to join for only £1.
